Update,
(12/18/04)
The
Porsche project is complete! It turned out better than any of us had
hoped. All of those new seals, gaskets, and hardware pieces really made
a difference and made the car look new, not re-painted. Inside, the old
blue interior has been replaced by a complete black interior that came
from almost ten different sources. It absolutely looks like a brand new
car inside. There were times during this project when I would have sold
the whole mess for scrap. A long term project like this will really test
your intestinal fortitude but like anything that takes a lot of hard
work, the result was well worth it. One of the last pictures is of
myself and Charlie (who did 90% of the job) taking off on the first test
ride. Thecar ran so well I drove it all the way to Llano the very next
day. Thanks for a job well done Charlie!
This 1984
Porsche 911 Targa had been totalled once and wrecked multiple other
times . I bought it just to have a fun and economical daily driver but
just fixing the dents turned into a much larger project. The Eriksen
Marine service crew encouraged me to go "just one step
further" with it and several months later here we are. I have
discovered during the process of this "winter" project that
some of our staff have talents that run way beyond fixing boats. I
thought that our customers might get a kick out of seeing what Eriksen
Marine can do with a car.
While the
initial body damage did not look that severe the whole car was twisted.
Since there was so much damage all over the car and it already had a
salvage title, we decided to go ahead and change the color to a
"proper Porsche, Guards Red." This of course meant that we
also had to disassemble the entire car and replace the complete interior
since the interior was blue. I will update the pictures as it comes
along. Many of our regular customers (plus the UPS and FedEx men) have
already been closely following this project for some time. |
